The GLP-1 conversation has moved well past whether it works. What the market has not fully caught up to yet is what these medications do to your body beyond the intended effect and who is building for that reality. The side effects are predictable, persistent and largely unserved by the existing beauty and wellness market.

Across our network, we are watching consumers navigating dry mouth, hair thinning, gut disruption, barrier breakdown, muscle loss and sleep disruption all at once with very few brands built specifically for where they actually are. These consumers are not waiting for a brand to tell them they have these needs. They already know. They have done the research. What they cannot find yet is something built with their specific reality in mind rather than adapted from a category that was never designed for them.

The product categories that become more relevant as GLP-1 evolves are the ones that map directly to what these consumers are experiencing. Oral health is the most underclaimed. Dry mouth alone affects tens of millions of GLP-1 users, and the category has barely noticed. Hair health is the second but with an important distinction. The consumer dealing with GLP-1-related hair thinning is often also navigating perimenopause, which means she is already hormonally complex.

Many of the existing solutions in this space are built around ingredients that interfere with the endocrine system, which is exactly the wrong answer for her. What she needs is something clinically credible, hormonally safe and built with her specific biology in mind. Gut health expressed as a skin outcome is the third. The clinical connection between gut disruption and barrier function is well established but almost entirely unclaimed at the brand level.

Muscle preservation expressed as an aesthetic outcome rather than a sports nutrition outcome is the fourth, and this one applies broadly. Consumers across genders are losing muscle alongside fat and nobody has addressed that elegantly from a beauty and wellness positioning.

Aesthetic treatments and in-clinic services are also seeing accelerating demand from this consumer base, and the brand or platform that bridges the home routine to the treatment plan, connecting ingestible and topical regimens to what consumers are doing in a clinic, is a position nobody has claimed yet.

What connects all of these categories is a convergence that the industry has not fully named yet. These consumers do not think in beauty categories or wellness categories. They think in need states. Hair health. Sleep and recovery. Digestive wellness. Body functionality. Oral health. The GLP-1 consumer is not looking for products. They are assembling a personal operating system across their whole body, and the brands that understand that will build accordingly.

What sits at the intersection of ingestible wellness and topical beauty, held together by genuine clinical credibility, does not have a name yet. It does not have a clear brand home. The brands that win will not be the ones that add a GLP-1 claim to an existing product. They will be the ones that start from the consumer need state and build backward to the formulation, with the transparency and expertise to explain exactly what they do and why it matters for this specific consumer.

The opportunity I keep coming back to is oral health, not as a product category, but as an entry point to a broader wellness identity. Dry mouth is one of the most common and persistent side effects of GLP-1 medications, and as adoption moves toward mass market that means tens of millions of consumers dealing with a condition that affects their daily comfort, their dental health, their oral microbiome and their confidence. The beauty and wellness market has not caught up to that yet.

What does not exist at scale is a brand that connects the oral microbiome to systemic inflammation to skin health, with the clinical credibility to back it up and the brand sensibility to make it feel like something a consumer genuinely wants to be part of. That is a specific, defensible, underclaimed position, and the founders who are building there now, before the category has a name, are the ones I am most excited about.
